Volunteers needed for events~

Hey everybody,

WOW. Our UNMC IET student chapter first ever Public Engineering Debate. Over 200 people turned up, and the passion+laughter during the debate was enough to help one kick off the week! Thank you for all your support!!

If you missed the debate, no worries. Here's your chance to make it up!(so don't make sure you don't miss it)

The UNMC IET Student Chapter will be playing host to a charity event happening about few weeks from now(so get excited!) and we are looking for volunteers! Priority will be given to foundation students and IET members but ALL are welcome to sign up!

Why should you join?

· You gain experience on organising activities
· You can learn about the inner workings of the UNMC IET Student Chapter
· Your participation would look good on your resume
· Make new friends and potentially hook up with Seniors ( good for “references” *winkwink*)

What's so great about IET?

· You are a member of one of the world’s leading international engineering societies
· IET has 150,000 members worldwide in 127 different countries
· Access to the IET’s vast knowledge network, online as well as off ( more info on their site )

P.S. For more info, check out their site http://www.theiet.org/about/today/

As for our local student chapter, what we do for students:

· Organise fun engineering-based activities for our members
· Field trips and workshops
· Promote networking among our members here and with members from other student chapters
· Keep our members informed of the latest developments in engineering
· Promote junior-senior interactions for networking and support

SO for those who are ready to have fun and are interested to be volunteers please shoot me an email at:

Letter from Chairman UNMC IET Student Chapter (2008-2009)

Dear Members,

Sorry to have kept all of you in limbo every since the agm concluded many weeks ago, so here is the confirmed list of committee members:

Name Position
1. Alexander Gunjau Fowler Chairman
2. Chong Wen Shan Vice Chairman
3. Abinami Living Secretary
4. Wong See Siang Vice Secretary
5. Sarah yang Mei Yen Director of Publicity
6. Lim Liang Hing Asst. Director of Publicity
7. Tang Keng Mun Logistics & Transport Officer
8. Chiang Ko-Wei Public Relations
9. Ankita Mishra Treasurer
10. Joshua Tan Joohua Vice Treasurer
11. Suan Ngiap Kim Director of Multimedia
12. Tan Sun Pei Asst. Director of Multimedia
13 Pius Chigozie Ile Technical Advisor

Many of you might be wondering what was the result of the confusing elections held during the previous agm. After much deliberation between myself and Pius, we have decided instead to work together in order to make this society one of the best on campus. Unfortunately only one person may become the society's chairman. Pius was gracious enough to allow me to take charge, and he is now our society's technical advisor.

We are, however, working together and both of us share a common goal and vision for the IET Student Chapter, that is to create a society that aims to shape and mould our members into more professional and knowledgable engineers for the future. It is the goal of this committee for this academic year to make a more orderly, systematic and transparent society and we hope for the full cooperation of you guys, the members of this society.

We also promise that subsequent committee elections in the future will be conducted in a more organised and systematic manner in order to prevent such a fiasco from happening again.

Regards,
Alexander Gunjau Fowler,
Chairman,
UMNC IET Student Chapter.

Welcome to UNMC's IET Student Chapter Blog

Welcome to all member of UNMC's IET Student Chapter. The purpose of this blog is to keep you guys updated on the latest happenings of the society and also to get some feedback from you guys.
One problem we have observed is that our members lack access information about our society, and so we have conceived the idea of having a blog which should serve as a point reference for you guys to get more info as compared to just receiving the typical mass e-mails every now and then.

As you may have noticed, this blog is just a simple one for now. Plans are in the works to establish an online forum and a more proper website, but for now we just ask for your patience.

We, the committee, hope to be one of action and not just words this year and this was one of the primary motivation in coming up with this blog. We hope that you guys will visit this blog frequently and don't hesistate to add this blog to your RSS feed readers.
